Plugging Away

A popular meme on social media suggests that one day you are young and having fun, then suddenly you are taking photos of plants, indicating old age. So be it. My husband and I are embracing being old, I guess. We’ve carved out one third of the back yard and turned our attention to growing squash, corn, spinach, beets and cut flowers. And we geek out, taking photos of plants. We buy plants for each other for the holidays. This year I was the recipient of a cut flower garden from the Red Daisy Farm in Brighton, Colorado. We spent a night at the farm in May and brought back 72 flower plugs. The the Basil, Celosia, Snapdragons, Statice, Strawflower, and Zinnias all produced really well. The Dahlias-not so much.
